Urban Clothing Trends For the Future

The 2021 urban fashion trends will be launched with a range of special and one-of-a-kind products such as jewellery, shoes, bags, accessories, cosmetics and many more. This year has seen a massive rise in the popularity of urban fashion and many fashion influencers have released their statements supporting this change in fashion. The Urban League, a popular network of professional African American designers, has joined forces with L’Oreal Paris to create the line ‘Larovin’. Influential voices such as Rihanna and Kimora Lee Simmons have both released their statements supporting the concept of fair skin and style. Other big name brands such as Von Dutch and Juicy Couture have also released their own statements supporting the idea. The United Nations, WHO, World Health Organisation and United Nations Development Program have all called for a change in the way that fashion is perceived.

Urban fashion trends are now focusing on fair skin colours, highlighting the many minorities who are traditionally invisible or discriminated against when it comes to fashion. Fair skin is associated with youth and this year’s fashion designs are geared towards teenagers, young adults and twenty-somethings. Other aspects of the new fashion are focused on youth, with brands such as Burberry creating a new range specifically designed for young women. One of the largest brands in the fashion industry, Burberry is focusing its efforts on women and teens as it seeks to target the ever-growing middle market. Other designers are also releasing lines for teens, such as Apple Bottoms and Nicole Richie.

Many brands which have traditionally catered to men are now targeting women and they are doing this in a variety of ways, including launching fashion weeks with particular focus on plus size ranges and evening wear. The increased influence from brands such as Gucci and Dior into the mainstream fashion scene has also led to an increased focus on fair skin colours and styles. Many celebrities have come out in support of the campaign, with the British singer Tuli at the forefront, and Paris Hilton is wearing an embellished white dress in the media spotlight. Urban fashion trends for the future seem to be pointing to greater inclusion and more vibrant representation of people who do have fair skin, rather than the bland and stereotypical images that have previously defined the fashion industry.
